Working from home different than you thought?
Are you currently at home, but are you still expected to work? This may take some getting used to if you don't normally do this. At Swaptop we think about a sustainable future, not only with our laptop subscription, but also by thinking along with the laptop user. So we would like to give you some tips to be able to work "freer". From home, library or wherever you feel most comfortable.
In addition to the specific tips below, one tip is above all else; Structure your days. This will help you best to stay productive in the environment where you normally relax. These tips can help you with that.
Tip 1: Set your alarm
It is of course very tempting to sleep in or to Skype with friends and family until late. Try to avoid this a bit and go to bed at a fixed time so that you get into a normal rhythm. Then just set the alarm in the morning and start working at a fixed time every day.
Tip 2: Work in blocks
At work or in education, you work in blocks. If you work from home, it is good to do this too. Most people are not able to concentrate on one task for more than 90 minutes. You lose your sharpness, creativity and accuracy, which means that the result of your work is disappointing. So try to get a cup of coffee or a glass of water after an hour and a half of work and walk around the house. You will notice that you can work more focused again after this.
Tip 3: Relax
Working in blocks is one thing, but the time in between can also be spent much more freely when you work from home. For example, now that gyms are also closed due to the coronavirus, a number of basic fitness exercises can easily be done in your room. This looks strange at your education or work, but as long as you work from home anyway, you might as well take advantage of it
Tip 4: Limit yourself
Being productive for work from your own home is one thing. But because many relaxation options are not available due to the coronavirus, there is also a chance that you will go overboard. Limit yourself to the hours that are available for your work or education. This also contributes to a better end result of the work.
Tip 5: Collaborate from home
The programs Word, PowerPoint and Excel are designed in such a way that you can easily and quickly share documents or even work together in a document. Grab a cup of coffee and start your new project. Microsoft Office 365 is pre-installed on our laptops because we know that this fits in perfectly with your way of working. You can get a free user license for this on 99% of HBO and Universities, so that you can work completely free of charge in the official Microsoft Office programs (of course, we will explain to you in 3 sentences upon delivery how to fix this at your school, easy as pie.)
Tip 6: Groceries
Food and drink are of course always important. The advantage of working from home is that you have a bit more freedom in your hours, so plan your grocery shopping at times when you don't expect crowds in the supermarket. You will experience that this is much more relaxing shopping.
