“Traveling has always been a passion of mine,” Lynn says as she shares her exciting travel story. It all started in 2011, when she lived in Curacao for eight months. After that, she quickly went on her first backpacking trip in 2012 and the itch started to grow. “When I finally traveled through Asia completely alone in 2016, I knew I wanted to do this more, but without an end date.”

After this, it took a while before her wild adventures could really begin. She still had to save some money and the Corona pandemic also caused some delay. 5 years later, in 2021, Lynn quit her job at Unilever and started as a freelancer. “Because of this, and thanks to my laptop from Swaptop, I was able to start my world trip by working remotely.” And in October 2022, the time had come and she could start making her dreams come true.

Around the world

Since then, she has explored much of the world, from Asia to South America and now Southern Africa, having visited 60 different countries. “From celebrating New Year’s Eve in Rio de Janeiro to the volcanoes in El Salvador and almost everything in between. We have climbed mountains in Patagonia, visited the Amazon in Bolivia, hiked the Inca Trail in Peru and enjoyed the white beaches of San Blas. We have had so many beautiful adventures and made so many memories together.”

And yes, you read that right, “together”. Lynn is now traveling with her boyfriend who fortunately enthusiastically dreams with her about traveling the whole world and left with her in 2022.

“The biggest adventure started in August,” Lynn continues. “We bought our own 4×4 with a roof tent to go overlanding through Southern Africa. We have now covered 15.000 kilometers and if I have to choose three words to summarize this, they are wild, pure and adventurous.”

3. Curacao

The Netherlands but in the Caribbean. Reliable internet, but a very relaxed vibe!

The future adventures

What are Lynn's future plans? "We are now preparing for our last month adventure in southern Africa, after a final repair to the car (we hope) we will leave tomorrow for the Namibian desert. After this we hope to sell the car and relax in Asia for the last 2 months of this world trip." After all the traveling, Lynn and her boyfriend will 'summer over' in the Netherlands and work a bit to build up some savings for the next trips in the winter. She will also use and need her laptop intensively for this.
“At the moment we still have to earn some extra money in the summers and we go somewhere else every winter.” She would love to be financially free and not have to do this anymore. “Unfortunately, I am still many years away from that.
