What is Phishing?

Phishing is a type of scam in which criminals pose as a trusted company, government agency, or individual. They try to trick you into:

• clicking on a link,

• to log into a fake website,

• to provide personal data,

• or even transfer money.

The messages often seem genuine:

• The logo has been perfectly recreated.

• The language seems professional.

• The message seems urgent or threatening.

Phishing can happen via:

• E-mail

• SMS (smishing)

• WhatsApp (whishing)

• Phone calls

• Fake websites

• Fake ads in Google or social media

It is one of the most common forms of cyber fraud.
