Safe Download & Install

Many malware and viruses are delivered through malicious downloads. Follow these guidelines to avoid problems.

1. Download only from official sources

That means:

• The Microsoft Store

• The website of the software builder

• Apple App Store (for iPhones & Macs)

• Google Play Store (for Android)

Examples of safe downloads:

• Microsoft Office via office.com

• Adobe Reader via adobe.com

• Zoom via zoom.us

• Google Chrome at google.com/chrome

2. Never download software through pop-ups

If you get a message while browsing like this:

• Your PC is infected! Click here to scan.

• “Update your media player now.”

→ These are almost always bad downloads.

3. Do not install “free versions” or “cracks” of programs

These are often infected with malware, spyware or ransomware.

4. Be careful with files from email

Only open attachments if you:

• the sender trusts and

• the file expected.

If not → delete the message.
